The Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Education (SHARE) Title IX and Title VI Office is the University’s central resource for combating, redressing, and preventing sexual harassment and sexual violence issues. It is also the primary office for addressing harassment and discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin or shared ancestry. The SHARE office is comprised of two primary teams: the Response Team and the Education Team.
We are looking for a Director of the SHARE Response Team and Deputy Title IX and Title VI Coordinator for Response.
As the Director of the SHARE Response Team and a member of the Title IX and Title VI Coordinator’s senior team, you will contribute to the strategic vision of the SHARE office by helping to assess performance, participating in the development of policies and practices, and managing and overseeing Stanford’s response to reports of sexual harassment and/or sexual violence. You will also contribute to the Title VI response efforts by participating in the development of policies and practices, and managing and overseeing Stanford’s response to reports of harassment and discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin or shared ancestry.
As the subject matter expert and lead for the investigative and adjudicative functions of SHARE, you will be responsible for applying a comprehensive understanding of the legal/regulatory compliance requirements and University’s policies and procedures, as well as best practices, to the achieve the appropriate response to reports of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, in the Stanford community. As the subject matter expert for Title VI, you will be responsible for responsible for applying a comprehensive understanding of the legal/regulatory compliance requirements and University’s policies and procedures, as well as best practices, to the achieve the appropriate response to reports of basis of race, color, national origin or shared ancestry, in the Stanford community.
Duties and Responsibilities Include*
- Supervise and manage the SHARE Response Team and the Title VI Response Team.
- Manage, monitor, and resolve Title IX and Title VI incidents to ensure an efficient, effective, empathetic, and equitable response to reports and complaints.
- As needed, serve as the investigator for cases alleging sexual harassment, including sexual assault, sexual misconduct, relationship (dating) violence, stalking, and retaliation.
- As needed, serve as the investigator for cases alleging race, color, national origin or shared ancestry.
- Identify and address any systemic problems that impact Title IX and Title VI compliance, including barriers to reporting.
- In collaboration with the Education Team, ensure that Title IX and Title VI policies are communicated to all constituencies and that the university implements a comprehensive Title IX and Title VI training program for all relevant stakeholders.
- Provide oversight for a case management database to organize, manage, track, and produce reports on all Title IX and Title VI incidents.
- In coordination with the Education team, create and facilitate the delivery of training/presentations to the campus community regarding the university’s nondiscrimination policies and identifying and integrating best practices into the complaint resolution process.
- Serve as Acting Title IX and Title VI Coordinator, as needed
- Consult with the Title IX / Title VI Coordinator to resolve to highly sensitive faculty/student assault/harassment cases.
- Serve as a resource and support for the resolution of sexual assault/harassment cases, in general, and specifically for those cases that require educational interventions with responding parties.
- Develop, review, and revise policies, procedures, and documents relating to sexual harassment/assault, and harassment/discrimination based on race, color, national origin or shared ancestry and the university’s response to such incidents.
- Work with the Office of the President and Provost’s budget team on financial management of programs including monitoring and forecasting.
- Represent the SHARE Title IX / Title VI Office within the University through outreach and coordination efforts to other units within the University and serve as a public liaison between the University and the broader Stanford community.

Education & Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced degree in a relevant field with higher education Title IX and/or EEEO experience strongly preferred.

- Ability to see the big picture perspective of how this work will affect the university community and other constituencies
- Ability to consider all points of view with reason, common sense, and empathy and work towards outcomes that resolve a situation

Strongly preferred experience:
- Knowledge and experience with gender/sexual violence issues and effects of sexual assault on higher education populations
- Knowledge and experience with race, color, national origin or shared ancestry, issues and effects on higher education populations
- Significant relevant experience in sexual misconduct prevention/nondiscrimination programming
- Experience developing and/or delivering training regarding sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking
- Experience with Restorative Justice practices in the sexual harassment context
Working Conditions
- Occasional evening and weekend hours
The expected pay range for this position is $131,000 to $175,000 per annum.
