The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the center of a world-class liberal arts education at Stanford University. Since its inception in 2003, Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR) has grown to become the leading media entity in the field of social innovation. Through its award-winning magazine, website, webinars, conferences, social media, and podcasts, SSIR reaches hundreds of thousands of people each month. Its audience includes leaders from nonprofit organizations, foundations, business, academia, and government from around the world. SSIR is published by the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS).
The marketing coordinator reports to the executive director, receives assignments directly from the publishing and marketing managers, and works with the publishing production coordinator. The marketing coordinator will also have occasional direct interaction with the editorial team and Stanford PACS colleagues. The coordinator will focus on supporting the publishing efforts of SSIR, including earned income from existing business lines (including subscriptions, conferences, webinars, sponsorship, advertising, licensing, permissions, bulk sales, reprints, and sponsored podcasts), as well as help with the development and expansion of new business lines (including e-books and other programs).We are especially interested in candidates with strong marketing copywriting skills.
The marketing coordinator’s responsibilities include:
1)General Support:
a.Write the initial draft(s) of copy for various marketing communications efforts;
b.Monitor incoming customer service inquiries and intercede as needed;
c.Support creation and scheduling of commercial social media posts;
d.Develop custom performance reporting on sponsored programs;
e.Process vendor invoices;
f.Support development of other publishing & marketing activities (ex. paywall development).
g.Offer advertising support
2)Webinars Support:
a.Support development of webinar program pages, emails, and social media posts;
b.Coordinate with outside fulfillment vendor to set up registration pages;
c.Schedule rehearsal calls with webinar presenters;
d.Secure presentation materials from webinar presenters and prepare those materials for use;
e.Add webinars to events calendar;
f.Support in report generation for webinars.
3)Conference Support:
a.Support the publishing and marketing manager on conference logistics, including coordination and scheduling of speaker calls, and trafficking speaker materials;
b.Manage production of collateral materials for events;
c.Add conferences to PACS events calendar;
d.Draft reports on post-conference surveys.
4)E-Newsletter Support:
a.Support scheduling of commercial emails;
b.Coordinate commercial content for weekly e-newsletter with publishing and editorial staff.
5)Partnership support:
a.Manage delivery of materials related to external partnerships;
b.Maintain partnership agreements.
6)Data Analytics:
a.Review and analyze performance of various business channels;
b.Create and update new and existing business channel reporting;
c.Develop recommendations based on insights and reporting metrics.
This is a 100% FTE, two year fixed-term, non-exempt position, open to being fully remote.
CORE DUTIES*:
- Provide administrative support to publishing/marketing team.
- Assist with marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including coordinating with internal stakeholders.
- Draft, edit, and schedule select marketing communications for a variety of channels (i.e., web, print, email, online).
- Monitor, track and report marketing program effectiveness.
- Review and report post-event/program/campaign data.
- Assist in quality control of data and marketing materials.
- Support the planning and execution of events.
- Support the creation and launch of tools and processes to improve marketing efforts.
- Contribute to vendor selection, arrangements, and scheduling, and coordinate vendor estimates and invoice processing.
- Develop an understanding of organization's major programs, services, events and products.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with emphasis in marketing copywriting
- Highly organized and creative.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
- Demonstrated team player.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum one year of experience in marketing, preferably in media or related industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite; Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator); digital publishing Content Management Systems (WordPress, Expression Engine); video editing and presentation tools (Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, iMovie, Prezi); automation platforms (Mailchimp, Survey Monkey); and Google Analytics.
- Facility in social media used in a professional setting, including related scheduling and management platforms (ex. Hootsuite and Later.com).
- Experience juggling multiple deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail.
- Experience in a customer-facing and client-facing role.
- Strong interest in social innovation as demonstrated through past jobs or volunteer activities.
- Comfortable analyzing marketing campaign performance and metrics
This remote role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University hasfive Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $29.33 to $35.58 per hour.
