Emerson Collective Internship Program
Emerson Collective’s summer internship program places college-aged students in paid internship opportunities across Emerson Collective and our affiliate partners XQ Institute, E Pluribus Unum, and Chicago CRED.
Candidates can apply to a maximum of three positions. Any additional applications will not be considered.
The Opportunity
The Innovation & Impact team partners with organizations to accelerate progress and the path to systemic change in service of EC's mission. The Innovation & Impact intern will support portfolio evaluation, engage with key partners, and coordinate due diligence. They will help shape emerging areas of programmatic engagement, with the opportunity to help draft memos, conduct research, and participate in stakeholder coalitions that advance our goal of accelerating the path to policy change. This intern will have a demonstrated passion for Emerson Collective’s issue areas, strong communication skills, and an interest in frontier issues related to technology, policy, and youth digital well-being.

Role and Responsibilities- Conduct Research and Grant Recommendations: Identify and analyze potential areas for new programmatic engagement, providing well-researched grant recommendations to the Innovation & Impact team.
- Participate in Ongoing Learning & Evaluation: Actively engage in learning activities, including evaluations, reflection sessions, and assessments to support continuous improvement and impact analysis.
- Support Due Diligence: Assist in comprehensive due diligence processes for potential grantee partners, ensuring alignment with quarterly goals and objectives.
- Plan Stakeholder Convenings: Coordinate events and meetings with policymakers, stakeholders, and other partners within the Innovation & Impact team’s portfolio.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements- Rising undergraduate seniors, preferably with a foundational background and demonstrated interest in tech policy, politics, and the intersection of tech and democracy.
- Attention to detail and an ability to track and execute on multiple projects and issues at once.
- Creativity and a high degree of comfort with change and ambiguity.
- A proven background in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Strong intuition and incredibly perceptive.

Location
Emerson Collective is a Bay Area-based organization with offices in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. This position is located in Los Angeles, CA, and is onsite 40 hours/week between June 9th and August 1st, 2025.
Key Dates
November 18 - January 10: Internship applications accepted, and interviews commence on a rolling basis. Please note that not all applicants will be selected for interviews.
January 10 - March 7: Interviews continue, and offers are extended.
June 9: Internship program begins.
August 1: Internship program concludes.
Compensation
All EC Interns are paid $25/hour and can expect to work 40 hours per week from June 9th to August 1st (eight weeks). Interns may also receive travel and housing allowances as needed.
This position requires being up to date on COVID vaccination consistent with current CDC guidelines, subject to documented religious and/or medical exemptions.
