The Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Philanthropy is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic sponsorships and philanthropic support for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum (USOPM). This senior-level role involves cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors, managing a robust portfolio of partners, and developing innovative strategies to meet and exceed annual revenue goals. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in sales, account management, and donor stewardship, as well as a deep commitment to the Museum’s mission to inspire through the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
Donor Strategy, Relationship Management, and Solicitation
• Portfolio Management: Manage an active portfolio of 100+ sponsor and donor prospects, focusing on contributions of $10,000 or more.
• Cultivation & Solicitation: Develop and implement personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for corporate sponsors and individual donors.
• Engagement: Create meaningful engagement opportunities for sponsors and donors through tailored experiences, events, and communication.
• Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with internal teams to identify funding opportunities aligned with Museum priorities and sponsor or donor interests.
• Achieving Goals: Meet or exceed activity and financial goals as defined by annual department objectives.
Sponsor Sales & Activation
• Identify and secure corporate sponsorships by developing compelling proposals and negotiating agreements.
• Deliver high-quality sponsorship activations, ensuring fulfillment of deliverables such as branding, marketing exposure, and event hospitality.
• Work with internal teams to integrate sponsors into Museum programs, events, and exhibitions for maximum visibility and impact.
• Ensure organizational leaders are appropriately briefed on event plans and goals in advance.
• Complete post-event debriefs to assess impact, generate next steps, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
• Build and sustain strong relationships with major donors, fostering trust and long-term commitment.
• Develop strategic funding requests based on immediate needs and long-term funding goals of the Museum.
• Ensure all donors and sponsors are appropriately recognized and stewarded to inspire continued and increased support.
Strategic Collaboration & Communication
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Operations, and Events teams to deliver seamless and impactful sponsor and donor experiences.
• Reporting & Insights: Maintain accurate records of sponsorship and donor activity using CRM systems, providing regular updates on progress toward goals.
• Internal Engagement: Engage Museum leadership and staff to support and participate in sponsorship and donor cultivation activities.
Program Development & Management
• Develop creative strategies to identify new sponsors and donors through prospect research, existing donor relationships, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with the CGO to create multi-year plans for growth in sponsorship and donor revenue streams.
• Stay informed on fundraising and sponsorship trends, applying innovative ideas to enhance the Museum’s impact and visibility.
