Job Description
The Assistant Facilities Director is crucial to our operation by delivering hands-on repairs and maintenance supporting the daily operations of assigned Y facilities and equipment. The GWVA YMCA Facilities staff work as a team and play a critical role in providing an excellent client, program participant, member, and staff experience in a highly organized manner.
This position will be based out of the Greater Hazleton YMCA downtown location as well as occasional duties as needed for other YMCA branches. Driving requirements include: Having a valid driver's license for at least three years and possessing a driving record that meets Y standards (no more than two moving violations within the last three years; no significant incidents, such as reckless driving, DUI/DWI, no tickets 20+ miles above the speed limit, etc. within the last 5 years).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, crouch, bend, kneel, stoop, etc. This position requires the ability to lift equipment, product and supplies up to 50lbs.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position (a part-time option will be considered) with expected hours of work Monday through Friday. Schedule options include start times ranging from 7:30 am through 9 am. Shifts may vary slightly at times depending on the needs of the business. No rotating shifts. Pleasant and rewarding work environment. Clean and quiet - no loud machinery.
Qualifications
At least three years related experience in general maintenance work.
Experience in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general building systems, and related areas as necessary.
Ability to perform essential duties.
Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets and instructions.
Basic ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Ability to identify and resolve potential safety and security problems.
Certifications may be required and obtained once employed.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
18 years of age or older.
Essential Functions
- Reporting to the Maintenance Director, leads and performs light construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds, including painting, flooring, drywall, plumbing, electrical, insulation, windows, doors, decks, roofing, siding, concrete, insulation, equipment installation, appliances, and general repairs.
- Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as fitness, HVAC, landscape, power, heavy, and standby power equipment.
- Operates, maintains, and repairs swimming pools and/or water systems.
- Provide light cleaning/janitorial support as necessary.
- May move furniture, equipment, appliances, etc.
- Maintain related records and documentation.
- Performs work safely and adheres to safety standards.
- Maintains appropriate certifications in technical areas where required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
