Job Description
This position is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to support the organization's mission through financial development and brand communication. Key duties include fundraising, managing campaigns (like the annual support campaign), building donor relationships, and overseeing all marketing efforts, including social media, website content, public relations, and member communications. Guided by Christian principles, we focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility to foster a supportive environment for all This is a hands-on position.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, marketing, communications, business) is required; an advanced degree or certification is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in development, marketing, or revenue-focused leadership roles, preferably within the nonprofit sector, is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication, public speaking, leadership, strategic thinking, data analysis, and proficiency with fundraising/marketing software and CRM systems are essential.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Experience with social media, digital marketing tools (like WordPress, Constant Contact, Adobe), and data analysis is preferred.
Familiarity with and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA is essential.
Brand Management: Serve as the "face and voice" of the YMCA, managing the brand and ensuring all messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with the YMCA's mission and core values.
Strategic Communications: Oversee all communication channels, including websites, social media, email, mobile apps, print materials, advertising, and public relations.
Market Analysis: Analyze key performance metrics and data to inform marketing strategies, track campaign performance, and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
Essential Functions
Development and fundraising
- Lead, manage, and implement a comprehensive development strategy.
- Cultivate relationships with donors and community partners.
- Coordinate annual and capital campaigns, special events, and fundraising activities.
- Solicit donations and manage donor data.
- Strengthen the culture of giving among staff, volunteers, and the board.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer committees and board members to support campaign efforts and philanthropic goals.
- Manage Financial Aid (Everyone’s Welcome) program.
Marketing and communications
- Develop and execute the overall marketing and communications strategy.
- Manage the YMCA's brand and messaging across all channels.
- Maintain and update the organization's website and social media platforms.
- Create and distribute marketing materials, including newsletters and press releases.
- Establish and maintain relationships with media representatives.
- Track analytics and report on the performance of marketing campaigns.
- Staff Leadership: Train and manage staff members in general communications as well as supporting campaign efforts and philanthropic goals.
- Shape the YMCA's voice in the community through impact-driven communications and storytelling to demonstrate community impact and build engagement.
