Job Title: School-Age Child Care & Preschool Director
Reports to: Senior Youth & Family Director

Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated YMCA professional to lead the School Age Child Care & Preschool program. Highlights of the position include: supervision, staff development, fiscal management, understanding of state and local licensing requirements, creativity in developing curriculum, and relationship building with families, staff, and community partners. The YMCA School Age Child Care & Preschool Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the YMCA’s School Age Child Care Programs (before/after school care, Kids Night Out) and Preschool Programs. This role ensures programs are safe, high-quality, and aligned with the YMCA mission and core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The Director provides leadership, supervision, and training for staff, ensures regulatory compliance, manages budgets, and fosters a positive, inclusive environment for children and families.

Qualifications
· Minimum age of 21 years old and ideally an Educational college diploma.
Minimum 3-5 years of childcare or preschool leadership, preferably in a licensed setting.
Typical requirements within 60 days of hire include completion of: CPR, First Aid, AED.
· Must complete Child Abuse Prevention Video Courses before the first day.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends as program dictates.
Essential Functions
The School-Age Child Care & Preschool Director will:
· Develop and distribute parent communication.
· Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of all children.
· Coordinate and organize “Back to School Nights”, and participate in YMCA special events
events.
· Handle all staff discipline issues. Keep proper written documentation.
· Advocate for children and their families.
· Organize and coordinate registration for all programs.
· Ensure that the site program meets and follows State of Wisconsin license regulations, YMCA policies, and health/safety regulations.
· Monitor children’s files to be sure they are complete and accurate.
· Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
· Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
· Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to
all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
· Plan, coordinate, and supervise School Age Child Care programs and Preschool programs.
· Ensure age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
· Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in the school program.
· Maintain high-quality programming that aligns with YMCA standards, state licensing requirements, and safety guidelines.
· Evaluate programs regularly to improve quality and participant satisfaction.
· Recruit, hire, train, and supervise full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff.
· Conduct staff meetings, professional development, and performance evaluations.
· Support staff in maintaining compliance with CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and other mandatory certifications.
· Maintain accurate records for child attendance and incidents.
· Promote a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven work environment.
· Develop and implement emergency procedures, including drills and crisis management.
· Serve as the primary contact for families regarding program updates, policies, and concerns.
· Maintain consistent communication with families through digital platforms, newsletters, and meetings.
· Plan and oversee special events such as Family Nights, Parent Workshops, and School Age programs.
· Build partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and stakeholders.
· Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Oversee registration, billing, and attendance tracking systems
· Assist with marketing and recruitment for programs, including social media, flyers, and open houses.
· Support grant writing and fundraising initiatives related to child care and preschool programs. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
· Act as a backup for School Age and Preschool programs as needed.
· Provide operational and programmatic guidance during staff absences or high enrollment periods.
Collaborate with other YMCA program directors to maintain consistency
