Position Summary:
Part-time volunteer internship position at Girl Scouts of Connecticut in the Fund Development Department. This position will assist the Fund Development team with securing financial support from foundations, corporations, and other philanthropically minded community organizations. Tasks include online research, proposal writing, and statistical research.
This position may be ideal for students majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing, English, or Nonprofit Studies.
Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, grades K-12. In Connecticut, our programs touch the lives of nearly 17,000 girl and over 9,000 adult members who participate in troops, programs, and activities across the state.
Major Accountabilities
- Completes GS101 Training modules online and develops an understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Assists with researching local organizations interested in supporting Girl Scouts of Connecticut. Determines how to best contact these organizations and/or submit a letter of interest/proposal.
- Completes standard grant applications and reports under the guidance of the Grant Writer and Director of Institutional Giving.
- Embraces and enhances a culture that values diversity and reflects the Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Skills:
- Basic computer skills with basic/intermediate experience in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and using the Internet for research.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, current girl issues and GSUSA programming.
