Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, the Director of Video and Media Production is responsible for shaping and executing interpretive and storytelling solutions for visitor and audience experiences across multiple platforms. This role leads the creative and technical direction of all video production, including live event capture, narrative storytelling, exhibition media, digital platforms, multimedia installations, and potential broadcast television.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 5–7+ years of direct multimedia production experience, ideally within educational, museum, nonprofit, or mission-driven environments
- Experience producing educational, museum, or nonprofit multimedia projects
- Strong experience with studio and remote video production, live audio recording, still photography, and multimedia editing
- Experience creating content for social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and similar channels
- Understanding of short-form storytelling, vertical video production, captioning strategies, audience engagement, and content optimization
- Ability to manage multi-camera productions, live event recordings, and on-location shoots
- Experience managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, vendors, and freelance production teams
- Ability to translate complex subject matter into engaging, accessible media experiences for diverse audiences
- Experience collaborating with curatorial, exhibitions, education, marketing, communications, and development teams
- Strong technical proficiency operating and maintaining video production equipment, editing systems, and production workflows
- Experience mentoring junior production staff and supporting team development
How You Will Spend Your Day:
- Develop interpretive and storytelling strategies across onsite, digital, and broadcast platforms
- Direct the conceptualization, production, and presentation of video content, including exhibition media, educational programming, marketing content, and storytelling features
- Lead and oversee the capture and presentation of live events, including lectures, panels, performances, and public programs
- Produce content for digital platforms, in-museum displays, multimedia exhibits, and social media channels
- Adapt long-form and event-based content into short-form, social-first video assets
- Collaborate across departments to create engaging, accessible, audience-centered content
- Manage production schedules, scopes, budgets, contractors, and deliverables
- Record and edit video and audio content for digital, onsite, and broadcast-quality experiences
- Oversee media asset management, production standards, workflows, and long-term preservation practices
- Mentor the Associate Media Producer and support professional development
- Research and implement new production tools, technologies, and workflows
