The Tidewell Foundation Grants and Program Officer will oversee the Tidewell Foundation’s mission of support for Tidewell Hospice and its affiliates. Reporting to the Foundation Senior Vice President, the Grants and Program Officer will work closely with Tidewell Hospice clinical teams to prepare for, execute, evaluate and report grant, and donor funded activities in support of the Tidewell Foundation’s philanthropic mission.
Primary tasks, duties and responsibilities:
1. Promote and practice the mission, values, and following policies and procedures of Tidewell Foundation.
2. Identify grant opportunities and oversee external grant writers, in conjunction with the Foundation President.
3. Develop, implement and evaluate the grant and donor funded opportunities within verticals and services of Tidewell Hospice and other Empath Health affiliates, in support of the Foundation’s fundraising goals.
4. Engage with hospice, home health and other key vertical and service line managers, vice presidents and teams in order to cultivate new ideas, write grant proposals, develop grant budgets, provide ongoing problem-solving support and execute outcomes as promised in grant agreements with outside funders.
5. Monitor and track the progress of internal programs to meet promised grant and donor funded program commitments.
6. Work with consultants and others to institute relevant trainings or initiatives to support the growth and development of Tidewell Hospice and Tidewell Foundation staff relative to capacity building of skills needed for grant implementation.
7. Provide technical assistance to program staff, as needed.
8. Collaborate with external partners and funders, in conjunction with the Foundation President and clinical team members.
9. Keep abreast of community issues, trends and potential partners that impact Tidewell Foundation’s ability to fund Tidewell Hospice’s and other affiliates’ programs.
10. Represent the Tidewell Foundation at meetings, forums, public presentations and other opportunities with donors, funders, partners, etc.
11. Prepare high quality reports for funders, granters, board members.
12. Propose and maintain annual budget as it relates to this position.
Position Requirements:
Educational/Professional:
- Excellent ability to find new sources of grant making revenue.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a grant writer in the philanthropy field; not-for-profit and/or healthcare experience is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered as meeting the Education/Professional requirements.1
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Solid knowledge of community partners and grant oversight.
- Experience in writing and managing grants to build capacity, serving as a consultant and coach within organizations to build capacity and confidence of clinical team members.
- Strong analytic and creative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information effectively and confidentially, politically savvy to organization and community dynamics.
- Highly collaborative style; experienced relationship building with flexibility and finesse to manage by influence.
- Track record of high implementation drive, thriving on managing many key initiatives simultaneously.
- Able to work well with volunteers and key staff across many verticals and as part of an integrated team of fundraising professionals.
- Excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Highly self-motivated, organized and accountable to SMART goals and metrics.
- Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; and similar grant tracking and reporting software.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once with strong attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
- Performs duties at a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Possess reliable transportation, valid State of Florida driver’s license and automobile insurance.
- Ability to drive throughout service area in day and nighttime hours in all weather conditions.
