Amnesty International Canadian Section (English Speaking), also known as AICSES, is looking for a passionate Annual Giving Associate (AGA) for its fundraising team.
Reporting to the Manager, Individual Giving, and Supporter Services, the Annual Giving Associate (AGA) is responsible for planning and implementing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of single gifts donors (that is, those who are not in the monthly program or major gifts program) to support Amnesty’s mission. This position will guide the direct marketing program and in collaboration with the digital team, digital solicitation strategy. The AGA will focus on strategically expanding the organization's annual giving program to increase the base of annual gifts through frontline prospect and donor management. Responsibilities also include integration with other fundraising programs and the development of expense budgets and revenue targets. The AGA is a key member of the fundraising team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The AGA is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the annual giving program within the context of Amnesty’s overall fundraising program. The AGA plans, implements, and evaluates these activities, focusing on building a net database of donors to the optimal level in terms of number of donors and average donation. The AGA is responsible for innovating within the program to deliver acceptable cost-to-revenue ratios for various donor segments and the program as a whole. Specific responsibilities include:
· Develop with the Manager, Individual Giving & Supporter Services, a plan for each fiscal period including overall strategy,
analysis, techniques, schedules, revenue targets, and expense budgets.
· Work with the direct marketing consultant to innovate, develop strategy, and monitor budgets, mailing schedules,
mailing plans, creative briefs, and critical paths.
· Work with the direct marketing consultants to develop direct marketing packages, especially letter copy, and design.
· Coordinate the approval process for direct marketing packages, web supplements such as pre and/or post-emails to
those packages, telemarketing, or other initiatives within the annual giving program.
· Research human rights cases, campaigns, and issues, and provides research materials to consultants on the latest
individuals at risk cases, human rights campaigns, and activities.
· Liaise with the direct marketing consultants regularly, assesses their work, and advises the Manager, Individual Giving &
Supporter Services on the quality of service provided.
· Develop and implement cultivation and retention strategies, involving the phone, online and print mediums. This includes
year-end stewardship, invitations and follow-up to donor receptions, and welcome/thank you calls.
· Work to ensure the integrity and accuracy of annual donor data is maintained.
· Coordinate The Candle and Year-End-Review newsletters production and any other publication.
· Ensure that all newsletters are integrated appropriately with the annual giving program mailings.
· Coordinates work with relevant staff who undertake data entry and fulfillment activities to ensure effective and efficient
gathering of donor information, data entry, timely delivery of tax receipts and thank-you letters (including bounce-back
coupons).
· In collaboration with other Fundraising staff and/or consultants, prepares a stewardship strategy for the annual program,
and writes thank-you letters for gifts received.
· Implement, often in collaboration with other Fundraising colleagues, specific initiatives designed to improve fundraising
performance within the areas of their responsibility.
· Perform all other tasks or work as assigned by the Manager or Director of Fundraising.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Participate in the overall planning of the fundraising activities of the Branch, as member of the fundraising team.
· Serve as backup for Supporter Services staff.
· Attend AICES regular all-staff and Fundraising team meetings as scheduled, attends cross-departmental meetings as
scheduled, regular meetings with the Director, attendance at Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting if
requested by the Director.
· Network within the fundraising and direct marketing industries to maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in this
area.
· Management of Volunteers: The AGA is responsible for finding volunteers needed in the Annual Giving program, and
training and supervising those volunteers who work directly with them.
· Participate in ad-hoc Fundraising team meetings for special projects on an as-needed basis in consultation with the
Manager/Director.
DECISION-MAKING
Exercises decision-making discretion in the day-to-day operations of the annual giving programs on an independent basis. Consults with the Manager/Director and other Fundraising colleagues as appropriate and with colleagues from other departments on an as-needed basis – in researching and ensuring accurate reflection of the organization’s current human rights issues in annual giving program initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
• College level fundraising program or a combination of experience acceptable.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Strong communication and diplomacy skills preferably communicating with existing or prospective donors via e-mail and
digital channels, direct mail, and phone.
• Excellent project and time management skills with very keen attention to detail, coupled with the ability to multitask.
• Expertise with Microsoft 365 software and applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
