If you enjoy working with people, numbers, and paperwork, this could be the perfect role for you!
Founded in 1922, The Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation is a national, non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping people of all ages (from high school to retirement) learn about their innate abilities to discover work that is both satisfying and a natural fit. Most of our clients hear about us through word-of-mouth referral by family, friends, or acquaintances familiar with our program.
We are looking for either a summer-only hire and/or a local year-round hire. We are busiest and most in need of help during school breaks when students are free to come in for testing: summer break, Thanksgiving and winter break, as well as fall and spring breaks. During those busy times you could work 2-5 days a week. Slower times of year may be 1-2 days a week. The job opening is for hourly work ($25/hour) and would typically involve a full 7 to 7.5 hours each day that you are in the office. However, half-days or ¾ days may be possible. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and we are located in the Buckhead business district.
In your role here, you will:
- Administer aptitude tests using standardized scripts and hands-on props (moving chips on a board, disassembling blocks, etc.), many of which are timed with a stopwatch.
- Score tests and enter information into the computer quickly and accurately. NOTE: Scoring of tests involves A LOT of quick math (addition, subtraction, multiplication) and paperwork.
- Answer phone calls and emails with questions from potential clients, schedule appointments, and process payments (if a year-round hire.)
This is a fun and low-stress job for someone who is a natural fit:
- You are good at interacting in-person and one-on-one with a wide range of people in a patient and encouraging manner (especially with teenagers).
- You are comfortable moving very quickly through testing, scoring, and paperwork within set time-frames.
- You feel comfortable memorizing instructional scripts, doing lots of basic math, and focusing while multi-tasking (not easily distracted).
- You are conscientious, showing care for both your team members (punctual, reliable) and for quality of services provided (minimizing mistakes, following research protocols).
- You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in a small, close-knit work environment (4-5 local staff), while getting to meet interesting new clients every day!
