Job Summary
Aviva seeks an innovative, experienced, and dedicated Director of Annual Giving to join a dedicated fundraising team raising financial support and awareness for programs and services of Aviva Family and Children’s Services. The successful candidate will have extensive fundraising experience and a proven track record of success with strong leadership and managerial skills.
The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for managing, and executing Aviva’s annual giving program. Reporting to and working directly with the VP of Development, the Director of Annual Giving will play a vital role in growing Aviva’s annual fund revenue.
The Director of Annual Giving will manage a portfolio of top annual fund prospects, manage communications and messaging for annual giving strategies, and collaborate regularly with the entire Development Department on fundraising priorities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Annual Giving will be expected to immediately take responsibility for the day-to-day management of Aviva’s annual fund efforts.
Areas of Responsibilities:
Annual Fund Strategy and Execution (70%)
- Work collaboratively with the VP of Development to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan and strategies for securing financial support
- Plan and implement annual giving program, which includes leading year-round solicitations and campaigns to diverse constituents to identify, qualify, and solicit donors.
- Create and manage communication and stewardship efforts
- Help to establish metrics (monthly, quarterly, and annually) and systematize tracking methods
Portfolio Management (30%)
- Manage the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of top annual fund prospects
- Regularly identify and qualify new prospects for annual giving
- Develop appropriate portfolio and strategy for all donors in portfolio
- Use data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of portfolio strategies
- Ensure all transactions related to annual giving are accurately tracked and managed in the CRM
Essential Functions
- Work with the VP of Development to design and implement a strategy to grow the annual giving program
- Direct and implement all aspects of the annual giving program to achieve fundraising goals
- Manage the solicitation of leadership annual giving prospects and regularly identify and qualify new prospects
- Create metrics and reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the annual giving program and evaluate opportunities for upgrading donors to Major Gift portfolios
- Design and implement strategies to increase donor retention and acquisition rates through direct mail, email, telephone solicitations, personal solicitations, and online appeals
- Maintain all tracking systems for annual giving donors, records and files, and ongoing statistics
- Manage the fulfillment of donor benefits, including the planning and execution of high-quality and effective donor cultivation events and stewardship opportunities

Competency Requirements
- We seek a dynamic, entrepreneurial self-starter. Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple, often competing demands are critical. The successful candidate must be able to work independently.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-7 years of experience in philanthropy/development
- Demonstrated success in the philanthropic sector and/or knowledge of best practices of annual giving
- Proven skills in understanding, analyzing, and synthesizing high volumes of information
- Demonstrated project management skills with experience managing a team and initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and completing multiple complex projects within tight deadlines
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Certifications/Licenses
-Valid CA driver’s license
