Position Summary
The Director of Psychology Training oversees and supervises all aspects of clinical internship programs for graduate psychology interns and psychology practicum students. This position works directly with the other Clinical Intern Directors to ensure that supervision and training is consistent with the Clinics’ core values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Organizes, maintains and supervises all aspects of clinical internship program for Psychology Interns/students.
- Recruits, screens and places psychology interns/students to various Pacific Clinics’ programs.
- Promotes the program, liaisons and conducts outreach to clinical graduate programs in Southern California.
- Identifies and secures intern/student placement sites Agency wide and coordinates intern/student placements with program needs, school requirements and supervision availability.
- Develops, implements and reviews internship policies and procedures for the program.
- Designs, implements, and monitors orientation, training, supervision materials for psychology interns/students
- Implements and monitors standards of internship/practicum to comply with the American Psychological Association (APA) accreditation, the requirements of the California Board of Psychology and LACDMH.
- Interacts with schools and ensures Agency compliance with school agreements and Memorandums of Understandings with schools.
- Prepares/directs self-study process for APA accreditation.
- Provides student candidates, faculty advisers and supervisors with guidelines and evaluation criteria.
- Monitors the billable services of interns/students monthly to ensure they meet minimal standards set by agency and face to face service expectations set by accrediting and membership organizations.
- Works with programs and Human Resources Department to enhance recruitment of students/trainees upon eligibility for employment.
- Maintains membership in APA, California Psychological Association (CPA) and Southern California Association of Psychology Training Programs (SCAPTP).
- Provides and receives feedback from interns/students, university liaisons/advisers and intern/student supervisors.
- Provides clinical supervision as needed.
- Leads Psychology Training Committee meeting. Leads quarterly Psychology Staff Meetings.
- Provides individual and clinical group supervision as needed.
- Participates in Manager’s Meetings as directed.
- Ensures the timely submission of all performance appraisals, new hire and termination paperwork and other employee status changes including informing HR of employee leaves, work-related injuries and employee incidents.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
- Models Pacific Clinics’ approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence.
- Communicates effectively in a culturally competent and diverse consumer population and promotes favorable interaction with managers, co-workers and others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervise employees and perform supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the Clinics’ policies, procedures and practices.
- Initiate and maintain professional interactions and communication with Clinics’ employees and/or others.
- Position works as part of a multidisciplinary team and interacts with all levels of organizational staff and management; outside auditors and/or Agency vendors.
Leadership
- Communication – Effectively and consistently communicates contract and compliance directives to staff. Encourages interactive discussions and maintains an open-door policy. Ensures that all staff within the program are properly educated and informed about matters relating to the Agency, program, and division.
- Relationships and Attitude – Models professionalism by maintaining effective working relationships, following all policies and procedures and approaching challenges with a proactive and positive attitude. Also develops strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Attendance –Models good attendance by adhering to their regular work schedule and at times working additional or varied hours to accommodate workflow.

- Confidentiality - Maintains the confidentiality of all business documents and correspondence
- Staff Development - Identifies opportunities to cultivate leadership among all staff, including developing and enhancing mentoring and communications systems to coordinate the promotion of shared learning and best practices among managers.
Experience / Requirements
- Licensed Psychologist, with five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in community mental health providing full range of mental health services to children and adults.
- Have had an APA accredited internship.
- Previous experience supervising psychology interns or practicum students.
- Previous experience directing internship/practicum programs preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the California Board of Psychology regulations regarding Psychology Interns
- Experience in direct services and/or student/ staff supervision.
- Ability to develop, manage and implement license specific training materials.
- Ability to develop relationships within the Agency and other community agencies.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of and ability to work competently with consumer and staff populations essential.
- Must promote efficient and effective communication with Clinics’ management, staff and third parties.
- Must maintain valid California Class C driver’s license with insurable driving record under Clinics’ policy at all times.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.
