General Function
The Lifeguard Manager is responsible for assuring the safety of all aquatic participants in and around the pool area, maintain a safe pool environment, provide lifeguard and safety training, and assist with scheduling and managing lifeguards. As well as be responsible for administrative support for the aquatic department in various roles but foremost in the capacity assigned by the Aquatic Director.
Education/Experience/Training/Certifications
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Functions as head lifeguard and lead teacher, guarding and teaching a minimum of 25 hours per week
- Approximately 15 hours per week will be applied to administrative duties such as time sheets, returning phone calls and emails, and scheduling lifeguards and instructors
- Supports the Aquatic Director in the creation and delivery of department schedules, employee engagement activities, facility communications, management of branch activity listings in ACTIVE, and statistical reporting for aquatic programs
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, American Red Cross and YMCA health and safety regulations as well as current ADA guidelines.
- Maintains all Association and American Red Cross standards and guidelines while ensuring that updated documentation is met and available at all times
- Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor

- Ability to hear and observe distress signals in the water and anywhere in zone of responsibility
- Skills to meet strength and lifting requirements
