Project A Title: Non-profit governance, administration and strategic development
Project Description: Music for Liberia addresses a crucial need in Liberia by empowering its young people. With a mission to support children and education, our donations have enabled our charity partners and beneficiaries to fund scholarships and teacher training, support rural schools and provide accommodation for Ebola orphans. Students with an interest in music, education, nonprofit administration, or development can channel their passions by interning with Music for Liberia. This is an opportunity to get invaluable, hands-on experience and make an important contribution to a dynamic and growing organization.
Our intern will work closely with the Director to support all areas of the non-profit as Music for Liberia sets up operations in the US, including strategic planning, reviewing governance structures; grant-writing; marketing and social media; partner outreach and management; event planning; research; budgeting and reporting; and the day-to-day running of the nonprofit. The intern will need to work thoughtfully and creatively over a range of digital platforms to engage with and grow Music for Liberia’s audience and develop relationships with Music for Liberia’s partners and beneficiaries. There is scope for special projects as per the intern’s interests.The internship is above all flexible, addressing the diverse needs of the organization while providing the intern the opportunity to draw on strengths while acquiring new skills.

Key Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for daily administrative tasks, as well as taking on longer term projects related to governance and fundraising. There is also scope for the intern to engage in marketing and research projects in accordance with the intern’s interests.
Ideal Skills or Qualifications Needed:
● A strong interest in the non-profit sector, especially in the arts, development, or education
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● An ability to work independently
● Good time management skills
● A passion for and creative approach to digital platforms
Expected Intern Experience Outcomes:
● How a non-profit operates
● How to write key nonprofit documents (grant applications, governance documents, etc)
● about Liberian culture, history and its current needs
● To work across digital platforms and create content for our website and newsletters, working within Wix, Mailchimp, etc.
