The Opportunity
Reporting to the Membership Director , the Membership Lead is considered an integral component to ensuring membership growth and retention in support of operational and fiduciary objectives. Through collaboration and leadership of Membership staff, ensures quality member experience while participating and engaging in Y services, including, planning, orientation, subsidy management, and staff/volunteer supervision. Is an Advocate to support timely, meaningful resolution of member concerns.
Responsibilities
- Provides support to Association membership growth and retention strategic plans by ensuring quality member experience. Serve as champion for quality commitment and profiling the Y as advocate and community partner in support of healthy communities. Includes: promotion of comprehensive Y programming, timely issue resolution, maintenance of retention data, and front-line support to new and existing members
- Ensure inclusive, responsive, values-based management in efforts to provide inclusive programming despite financial barriers. Including: application approvals, maintenance, achievement of program targets, and establishment of supportive, respectful relationship with clients
- Through leadership of Membership Associates and Support Staff, ensure delivery of Serving All Member (SAM) quality standards through provision of welcoming, inclusive, and positive membership experience. Includes ensuring effective member onboarding, registration, record maintenance, collection, and financial assistance processes, in addition to facilitation of timely resolution of Member concerns
- Foster collaborative, service-oriented partnership with external community contacts, agencies, and vendors to ensure delivery of responsive, meaningful programming in support of Healthy Communities. Provide positive support to programs, and promotional activities to portray Y values, program offerings, and mandate delivery (i.e., Healthy Kids Day, Monte Carlo, etc.)
- Responsible for administrative functions in support of Y mandate and Member Relations Strategy, including cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, third-party billing, and compilation and presentation of Department Reports (i.e., member reports, cash outs, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, industry standards, and Child Protection processes in support of provision of safe environment for all participants, visitors, staff, and volunteers. Including: sign-in processes, maintenance of staff certifications, maintenance of staff/volunteer files, Duty Manager Rotation, Code Adam response, surveillance, incident reporting, and compliance with Association policy and Child Protection Standards
- Ensure fair, consistent, and equitable administration of all staff and volunteer Talent Management processes including Onboarding, Development, training etc. Ensure modeling and championing of YMCA behavioural standards regarding professionalism and respectful workplace requirements.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- University or College program an asset
- 3-5 years experience in member relations
- Strong customer service/sales skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish rapport with clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Experience in fundraising or non-profit sector is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to establish rapport with client
- Strong attention to detail
- Flexibility to work irregular hours required
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
