The Opportunity
The Atlantic Regional Development Centre (RDC) works with the 11 federated YMCA member associations across Atlantic Canada (in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador) to support of their overall health, leadership, sustainability, and impact. The Training Manager is a new role which will work with all Atlantic YMCAs and the broader YMCA Federation to develop and deliver training and networking that enhances the learning and knowledge of our diverse range of employees and volunteers. Reporting to the Vice President, Atlantic Regional Development Centre, you will work collaboratively to create, plan, facilitate and coordinate training and competency-based learning programs based on employee and volunteer needs.
Responsibilities
- Work with YMCA team members at local and national levels to understand training needs, resources, and opportunities across all YMCA program delivery areas.
- Develop and implement a training strategy that aligns with and leverages existing and emerging opportunities and resources to meet local needs.
- Effectively communicate available training opportunities to Atlantic YMCAs.
- Design and deliver engaging training sessions, both virtual and in-person, that address gaps to meet local needs and celebrate regional expertise.
- Empower and support YMCA team members to develop, facilitate and host training and other learning opportunities, to develop local leadership and share capacity.
- Establish clear objectives for training, evaluate results, share learning and proposed next steps with leadership.
- Support logistical elements of training (e.g. travel arrangements, invoicing, calendar management) and ensure participants and hosts are well prepared.
- Provide leadership and support for other relevant regional activity priorities as appropriate.
- Work with YMCA team members at local and national levels to understand training needs, resources, and opportunities across all YMCA program delivery areas.
Qualifications & Skills
- Relationship builder: ability to establish rapport with diverse audiences and lead effective working groups
- Collaborative project manager: ability to work across multiple levels of stakeholders with a customer-focused, positive attitude
- Track record in working with adults in designing, facilitating, and delivering adult education programs and training
- Proficient with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and E-learning technologies
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to clearly articulate purpose and materials to diverse and busy audiences
- Values diversity with a willingness to stay updated on emerging trends, research, and best practices in DEI to continuously improve training programs and event experiences
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards in event execution
- Excellent prioritizing skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and juggle multiple demands with competing timelines
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop engaging training content and event concepts
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office 365
- A strong results-oriented YMCA operational background would be an advantage
- A willingness to travel independently, frequently and for extended periods of time; a valid driver's license is required
