Compensation: $100,000 to $130,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits

PACE is a local community nonprofit founded in 1976 to provide job training and placement services for the Asian Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles. PACE has since expanded into a variety of service areas, all tailored to meet the growing and changing needs of the multi-ethnic communities in Los Angeles County. Now, in addition to job training and employment services, significant PACE programs encompass business development; early childhood education (Head Start); financial education and asset building; housing and rehabilitation services; weatherization and energy-conservation programs; and affordable housing development. JOB PURPOSE:
This Accounting Manager position is responsible for assisting the Controller, overseeing staff, contracts and becoming part of the accounting team which may involve but limited to: grant accounting and reporting, allocations of shared costs, budget development, ensuring compliance with Uniform Administrative Requirements and contract terms and conditions. This is all performed while verifying the integrity and accuracy of financial operations, safeguarding organizational assets, and developing efficient business processes. The accounting manager is also responsible for overseeing certain contracts as it relates to financial reporting, leading strategic planning for accounting policies and maintaining internal controls over financial transactions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing the general accounting functions
- Develops accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Oversees the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements
- Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting process ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Provides financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation; collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial information; advising departments of the collection and analysis of data
- Leads and directs the work of others.
- Maintains sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations.
- Responsible for monthly reports to assure compliance with Federal, State and contractual funding source regulations.
- Verify and post all transactions that are properly documented in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries
- Oversee processing Accounts Payable invoices, issuing checks, and corresponding with vendors and administrative staff.
- Responsible for bank and cash reconciliation.
- Analyze business operations, trends, cost, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- Assist with contract audits, corporate audits, including A-133 and SEFA
- Assist in overall program accounting, budgeting and financial reporting and policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor�s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university
- 7+ years of experience as an accountant / bookkeeper in a fund accounting system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is a must
- Knowledge of principles published in Government Accounting manuals and familiarity with audit and reporting requirements for Federal, State, and local grants.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Work accurately with close attention to detail
- Experience with non-profits and MIP Fund/SAGE Accounting software is highly desirable
- Prior supervisor experience is required
- Designation of CPA preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have valid Driver's License and adequate auto insurance.
- Must pass pre-employment physical examination that includes drug and alcohol screening
