Who We Support:
St. Amant Community-based residential services provides supports to adults and children who have an intellectual disability in a manner that promotes respect, independence, self-determination, community participation and integration.
Position Summary:
The role of the Support Worker - bilingual is to provide support to people that receive services from the Community Residential Program at St.Amant. Support Workers provide support to people in their home and in the community, the level and type of support that is provided is specific to each person.
We provide comprehensive training to ensure that Support Workers have the knowledge and skills to do a great job. While many of our employees are hired with relevant experience, what we ultimately require is that Support Workers have values that match those of our organization.
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent, Temporary, Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekdays, Weekends
Wage: $17.57 (with the possibility of increments after probation)
Language: Bilingual imperative
*French language test will be conducted upon hiring*
What you need:
- Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate
- Full Valid Class 5 full or intermediate Driver’s license and driver’s abstract
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
- Ability to attend and demonstrate learning in all required training including First Aid/ CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and all other training as assigned
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, Clear Child & Adult Abuse Registry Checks' (no older than 3 months)

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Support Worker will vary depending on the people being supported. The Support Worker is responsible to assist the people that they support in every area that is required and to support only the amount required. Some examples are:
- Promoting friendships and relationships
- Running Errands and Shopping
- Clear and detailed written communication
- Helping to facilitate financial purchases
- Administering Medications
- Performing Lifts and Transfers
- Maintenance of House and Yard
- Supporting Medically Complex Diagnosis
- Goal Setting and Achieving
- Support with intimate personal hygiene
- Menu Planning and Cooking
- Attending Medical Appointments

St. Amant is a bilingual organization. Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.
As a Condition of Employment, new hires must complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases.
