Resident Advisor
Job Objective:
To provide oversight to all shelter locations within the CFH continuum
Duties:
- Provide general supervision to families in shelter
- Monitor security cameras
- Assist applicants
- Assist callers, provide resources to callers
- Engage families and establish rapport by interactions with residents
- Discuss house-related issues with shelter operations team to address any behavioral issues
- Monitor all household supplies and needs; Report all maintenance service requests in staff log
- Document all interactions with families, activities, volunteers, and visitors in staff log
- Assist families with accessing household items such as food, cleaning supplies, etc.
- Engage and assist volunteers during planned events, overnights, dropping off meals, etc.
- Turn over rooms as a family moves out to prepare for the new families
- Organize donations
- Routinely walk hallways and shared living areas of the shelter to ensure safety of residents
- Contact shelter manager to report emergencies
- Attend All-Staff and Resident Advisor team meetings
- Participate in on-going trainings as scheduled
- Operate from Charlotte Family Housing's Empowerment, Trauma Informed Care, and Stages of Change models
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and professional telephone etiquette
- Be able to relate to residents, donors, volunteers and colleagues
- Must possess the ability to handle information in a professional and confidential manner
- Remain on site and awake and alert at all times while on duty
- Abide by agency confidentiality policy
- Basic computer skills, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft OneNote
Requirements:
- High school diploma with two years of work experience in the Human Services Field
