The Renaissance West Community Initiative (RWCI) Development Officer will play an important role by providing support to the Chief Development Officer and participating in all campaign and fundraising activities including donor, volunteer and public relations, direct mail, social media appeals, and special events.

RWCI is leading the revitalization of a neighborhood in the West Boulevard corridor of Charlotte, NC. The organization is working to improve economic mobility and end intergenerational poverty through a holistic approach that is based on the Purpose Built Communities model. The initiative includes a simultaneous focus on mixed-income housing, a cradle-to-career education continuum, and supportive services for children and families. RWCI is the only comprehensive neighborhood revitalization effort in Charlotte and represents an opportunity for resurgence in what was once one of Charlotte's most economically challenge neighborhoods.
Position Description
The Development Officer will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and will have the following primary responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of an annual fund development plan for the organization
- Assist with providing staff support to board of directors and fund development committee volunteers
- Conduct research on prospective foundation, corporate, and individual donors
- Assist with agency grant-writing and management of grant submissions and reporting activities
- Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed
- Maintain foundation, corporate, and individual donor files
- Prepare call sheets for donor prospect meetings
- Assemble donor kits for events and meetings
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and correspondence
- Manage donor database; continually update and correct database records
- Answer donor questions related to their gifts
- Assist with managing website and social media accounts; create newsletter and marketing materials
- Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials, and other duties as assigned for fundraising events and activities
- Assist with all administrative details associated with the Fund Development Committee meetings
- Support all activities associated with fulfillment of RWCI's mission and vision
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with non-profit development experience to continue building RWCI's fundraising capacity. Applicants must have relevant fundraising/donor relations experience. The Ideal candidate will also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across stakeholder groups to achieve an ambitious set of goals.
- At least 5 years of funds development experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Intermediate to Advanced technical skill, demonstrated experience and proficiency in managing fundraising databases and in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and in balancing competing priorities
- Experience in a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
- Experience in a complex work environment
