We are looking for aControllerwith Nonprofit industry experience, to join our Consulting & Outsourcing practice in Colorado. As a member of CLA’s Consulting & Outsourcing practice, you will be an integral part of the CLA client service team and will work directly 1:1 with our client’s to provide customized accounting services to support them as they manage and grow their business or organization.
In this role, you will work independently at client locations and report directly to the Principal in charge of the client relationship. You will be responsible for supervising the accounting team on each engagement which may include a combination of CLA staff and client staff. You are responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial statements and statistical information to the client’s leadership team as well as implementing financial and operational best practices related to the client’s specific industry.
Job Description
- Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
- Coordinate and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization. Prepare financial information.
- Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
- Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
- Monitor and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
- Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
- Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required (Nonprofit industry and back-office accounting experience is highly preferred).
- Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to travel to local client sites.

- An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting

The wage range for this position is: $106,870.00 - 160,305.00 USD Annual
Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.
