JOB SUMMARY
The Care Support role will help manage the daily resident routines in the LifeHouse Crisis Maternity Home. This role is responsible for maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the home. Provide basic self-care support for postpartum residents (i.e., women’s hygiene care, breastfeeding support, childcare support, etc.). This role includes but is not limited to transportation, providing random urine screenings, breathalyzers, and meal preparation for residents.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist residents with daily routines.
- Maintain household cleanliness, organization, monitor everyday supplies, and process donations.
- Answer phones, take/deliver messages as appropriate, and complete telephone intake assessments.
- Assist with documentation of medication.
- Ensure residents complete chores, passing room checks, and following the agreements and expectations of the program.
- Conduct safety checks throughout the building, including safe sleep environments.
- Prepare rooms for new residents.
- Provide basic self-care support to postpartum residents (i.e., bathroom hygiene, breastfeeding, and childcare support, etc.)
- Facilitating resident random urine screenings, breathalyzer testing.
- Ability to prepare meals for a larger group of residents.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent speaking, listening, and communication skills.
- Basic clerical skills and computer knowledge.
- Strong understanding of Trauma Informed Care; including boundaries, de-escalation, conflict resolution, cultural competence, and/or the commitment to become educated.
- Ability to understand security systems, including but not limited to, arming/disarming alarms, security camera operations, monitoring property grounds, fire safety, and awareness.
- Basic cooking skills and kitchen knowledge.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work and maintain a positive work attitude.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
PREFERRED:
- Prior experience working or volunteering in a human services field or other support services role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
