We are seeking a Student Services Officer 2 to provide administrative support and project management for our graduate and postdoctoral student programs. In this role, you will represent the department, working in partnership with central administration, university departments and sections, and graduate students. As a key member of the Bioengineering Student Services team, you will help support and manage graduate student and postdoc operations, including oversight of postdoctoral appointments, graduate student degree progress, student funding. You will support postdocs and graduate students by providing advice and resources on a range of issues and through interpretation and implementation of university policies. You will be part of a team that provides support to Student Services as needed, especially during program events and peak times (e.g. admissions, commencement, program review). In this role, you will:
- Oversee and administer an area or program in student services, as well as evaluate and recommend decisions on program eligibility. Review decisions recommended by other staff.
- Collaborate with others to help resolve program issues and concerns, interpret policies, and mediate complex and sensitive issues. May be tasked with evaluating and recommending program improvements.
- Resolve multi-dimensional matters in response to students in crisis, at risk, or who have other program issues, counsel students and parents on sensitive and confidential issues.
- Reconcile complex issues; analyze diverse transactions from multiple sources.
- May oversee, analyze and assist in financial processes and development of budgets.
- Serve as a key member of a project team.
- Provide critical support to Student Services team as needed, especially during program events and peak times (e.g. admissions, commencement, program review, etc.)
Education & Experience (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):
- Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.
- Advanced analysis and problem solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced customer service skills.
- Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
- Understanding of financial transactions.
- Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Education & Experience (Desired):
- Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications and cloud-based collaboration sites/software (Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, etc).
- Proven success in following through and completing projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and assign work to others.

Physical Requirements:
- Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Pay Range:
The expected pay range for this position is $69,100 to $104,000 per annum.
