Reporting to the Assistant Director of Administrative Services on the Cancer Major Gifts team at MCD, the Senior Program Manager, Prospect Communication and Content Management supports the efforts of fundraisers on the team as well as overall Stanford Medicine priorities. As the Senior Program Manager, Prospect Communication and Content Management, your responsibilities will include developing, writing and designing prospect communication, proposals, and other collateral; crafting compelling Powerpoint presentations for volunteers; complex project management; and data management and analysis. In this support role, you will partner with gift officers on these items, as well as help them develop strategies for prospect communication and solicitation. The role also requires a high level of engagement with donors, volunteers, and internal partner teams across MCD and the University. You will operate independently while coordinating on projects with internal support colleagues, volunteers, and other university staff.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Writing and Designing Materials/Content Management (60%):
- Reviewing complex scientific information and synthesizing to create and design compelling and concise prose for major gift prospects and donors as well as volunteers.
- Conceptualizing, developing, and designing visuals for donor and volunteer engagement using graphic design skills. This includes slide decks, case statements, and other presentation materials.
- Crafting campaign support materials including overviews, design elements, and presentations.
- Writing program and faculty research overviews, case for support, gift opportunities, donor proposals, acknowledgments, stewardship letters, briefing materials,and other communication for donors, faculty, and volunteers.
- Coordinating with faculty and internal partner teams, including Communications and Donor Relations teams, on material development.
Reporting and Data Analytics (20%):
- Utilizing reporting and MCD databases to conduct data analysis projects or inform project management.
- Acting as a liaison between partner teams, including the reporting and research teams, to coordinate projects, requests and deliverables for the aligned gift officers.
Events (20%):
- Leads the development and drives implementation of the event strategy. Proposes recommendations based on goals and donor base; strategically identifies and recommends donor groups to attend events and activities.
- Manages overall arc of events and serves as the point person for event implementation. Independently coordinates all elements of event implementation with key stakeholders and owners, including faculty, volunteers, gift officers, events staff and donors as identified. This requires a high degree of sensitivity, diplomacy, and professionalism in working with these groups.
- Works as the data partner for the event, creating the invitation list, navigating review process, obtaining necessary internal approvals, tracking on responses and conducting any ROI analysis if necessary.
- Acts as the briefing partner for the event, drafting all leadership, faculty and prospect briefings that may be needed for the event.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Three years of project management or program management experience desired.
- Exceptional writing skills, research and editorial competencies; ability to synthesize complex information and compose clear and compelling prose.
- Experience using graphic design software such as inDesign, and/or Adobe Illustrator is strongly preferred; if not a willingness to learn.
- Experience managing and coordinating and projects that have multiple components and competing deadlines; set priorities and schedules and meet deadlines with a minimum of supervision.
- Excellent technical skills: expertise in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, web resources, and relational databases; experience using Stanford’s information systems such as PostGrads and CARD is a plus but not required.
- Positive, can-do attitude and dedicated work ethic.
- Superior organizational skills; a work style that is thorough, accurate and detail-oriented. Strong attention to details and the ability to quickly understand and remember details about donors and projects.
- Excellent verbal communication skills. Strong customer-service focus; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to work patiently, persuasively and effectively with a wide variety of people.
- An understanding of the development and alumni enterprise—particularly within an academic setting— is desirable, but not required.
The expected pay range for this position is $69,100 to $115,000 per annum.
