What you need to know? The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Senior Program Manager to support Executive Engagement.
The Fundraising Programs and Segment Strategy unit is the central office through which high-quality, consistent fundraising programs and platforms are created that reflect the organization’s fundable strategic opportunities. It is also the primary office through which individual, corporate, and foundation donor strategies are developed to maximize fundraising locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
To support fundraising strategy and in an effort to meet the organization’s fundraising goals, the Senior Program Manager for Executive Engagement will provide strategic guidance to fundraisers and fundraising leaders across the country on how to implement national Red Cross Senior Leadership engagement, including the President and CEO, with major donors. They will serve as the primary Development point of contact with the President and CEO’s office for all fundraising activities and initiatives relative to the President and CEO and serve as the sole organizational and subject matter expert in Executive Engagement.
The individual in this role must:
- Maintain the highest level of quality and professionalism in all executive engagement interactions. Position is in frequent contact with the President’s Office, Chief Development Officer and other executives.
- Successfully manage multiple perspectives to achieve program goals. Must have demonstrated tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations and the utmost respect for confidentiality.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills, with ability to build consensus and collaborate.
- Possess a high degree of organizational, analytical and project management skills, including the ability to anticipate risks, problem solve, and develop strategic and creative solutions.
- Possess the ability to perform and thrive under pressure in a rapidly changing and multidimensional environment.
- Work well independently and to handle deadlines, pressure and changing priorities with clear judgment.
Where your career is a force for good: (responsibilities)
- Represent the Red Cross as the primary Presidential and Executive Engagement contact, working closely with national, divisional and regional leadership, department representatives and field units including: the President’s Office, the Board of Governor’s office, NHQ Development, Regional and Divisional Fundraising, Communications, Marketing, OGC and more.
- Develop and provide strategic guidance to fundraisers, fundraising leaders, and the Office of the President on implementation of Red Cross executives into key donor relationships – often across various departments, managing multiple and competing priorities, with time sensitivity.
- Manage, facilitate and implement fundraising strategy involving executive and senior leadership.
- Manage, develop and maintain a high-quality framework and process when the field wishes to engage national leaders in fundraising interactions.
- Serve as the primary Development point of contact for the President and CEO’s office for all fundraising activities and initiatives relative to the President and CEO.
Other responsibilities include:
- Deliver in-person and virtual training.
- Work closely with fundraisers and internal program owners to maximize fundraising opportunities.
- Create and maintain fundraiser-facing and donor-facing guidance and communication for assigned program areas, posted to One Source.
- Maintain historical engagement data & documentation to track the President and CEO’s fundraising interactions.
- Collect and analyze data, identify areas of need and/or improvement, and develop recommendations for program improvement. Develop reports for management review.
- Administer processes within assigned program area. Analyze operating practices and recommend revisions to improve established procedures.
- Work in conjunction with internal departments and external stakeholders, including occasional work with donors and leadership volunteers.
What you need to succeed:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Business, Logistics Management, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven years related experience working with a nonprofit in fundraising, marketing, logistics, and/or program management.
- Experience with individual fundraising principles and techniques.
- A high degree of organizational, analytical, and project management skills, including the ability to anticipate risks, analyze and manage data, problem solve, and develop strategic and creative solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, prioritize, articulate, and execute strategies in a complex and changing environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and negotiation.
- Motivation, strong initiative, and ability to foster collaboration across multiple teams. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple perspectives to achieve program goals.
- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations.
- Ability to perform and thrive under pressure in a rapidly changing and multidimensional environment.
- Strong customer service orientation is necessary.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required and with Salesforce is desired.
- Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs.
- Willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and up to 20% of business travel, are required. This is mostly driven by disaster activity.
