Stanford University has an immediate opening for an Accommodations & Centralized Testing Center (CTC) Manager in the Office of Accessible Education (OAE). The OAE is the department within the division of Student Affairs that centers its work on case-by-case accommodation determinations and programmatic development for furthering accessibility and inclusion. We are charged with facilitating reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in all areas of academic and residential life.
This is a new position that will lead a team of accommodation coordinators and report to the Assistant Vice Provost of Accessible Education. The Accommodations & CTC Manager is responsible for overseeing the coordination and delivery of most academic accommodations at the OAE. This includes the management, operation, and ongoing development of the Centralized Testing Center (CTC) where a subset of accommodated exams are administered for participating AIWG Proctoring Pilot courses. This position is integral in furthering accessibility and inclusion for students with disabilities on campus and will work closely with campus partners to remove barriers to academic experiences. We seek candidates who can support the mission of our office, work to help establish a new mindset, and support Our Most Important Work.
Inclusion and diversity are integral to Stanford’s commitment to excellence. We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated experience engaging with diversity through activities such as fostering an inclusive environment, working with students and staff from diverse backgrounds, or incorporating diverse perspectives in their work.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient administration of mandated academic accommodations for students registered with the OAE by managing the workflows for accommodations coordinators and setting team priorities.
- Maintain and analyze team metrics and reallocate resources accordingly.
- Lead planning of existing CTC space, infrastructure, and assets to meet the evolving requirements of students and campus stakeholders.
- Assure integrity of the testing environment by monitoring and ensuring compliance with current Stanford testing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Supervise coordination of academic accommodations with campus partners, vendors, and service providers to ensure that student accommodations are fulfilled with fidelity and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate on the revision policies, procedures, and processes for the CTC and delivery of academic accommodations, as needed, to conform to legal guidance and university framework.
- Resolve, independently or in collaboration with OAE staff and campus partners, escalated issues, concerns, or complaints.
- Regularly review the strategic plan, program development, and process implementation by collecting and performing statistical analysis of data as it pertains to the testing center use; summarizes findings to determine and implement adjustments to the program.
- Independently evaluate academic accommodation trends, research and evaluate new technologies and products, and make appropriate recommendations for their purchase and/or implementation.
- Represent the Centralized Testing Center (CTC) within the OAE and across the University, with all external/internal stakeholders and constituents (e.g., students, staff, faculty, vendors); lead outreach to campus partners and other related groups across Stanford.
- Strategize with OAE leadership and the Academic Integrity Working Group (AIWG) to develop materials and training that communicate updates to the CTC, terms of use, policies and procedures.
- Determine the annual operating budget in coordination with OAE leadership; forecast changes to the budget, anticipate and plan for capital expenditures and large-scale technological refreshes.
- Assess the training needs, recommend, support, and provide guidance on professional development plans and goals for direct reports based on job responsibilities.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, training, and performance evaluation of staff; support professional development of direct reports; build team cohesion and redundancy with cross-training.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Familiarity with the implementation of applicable disability laws, codes, and regulations in higher education (e.g., ADA, Section 504, FERPA).
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.
- Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals.
- Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Computing fluency, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
- Understanding of financial transactions.
- Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
- Ability to direct the work of others, support professional development, and provide feedback.
In addition, preferred qualifications include:
- Excellent organizational skills including an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, to define pitfalls, to propose and implement effective solutions, while being able to set and re-adjust often competing priorities.
- High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with Slack and Salesforce.
Working Conditions:
- This is a hybrid position which requires 3-4 days of onsite work per week. Additional onsite days may be scheduled, as needed, to meet student and departmental needs.
