We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as a Community Recovery Manager for the Hurricane Helene and Milton Long-Term Recovery Operation supporting the East Central Chapter of the American Red Cross Georgia Region and the western counties of the Central Chapter of the South Carolina Region. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last through September 2026, with the opportunity to extend based on business need. This is a hybrid position based in either Augusta, GA or Columbia, SC; frequent travel to impacted communities will be required.
The Hurricane Helene Long-Term Recovery Community Recovery Manager (CRM) reports to the Senior Manager, Community Recovery for Georgia and South Carolina, Hurricane Helene & Milton Long-Term Recovery Operation and serves as support in a Red Cross region when a Recovery Program is implemented post-disaster. Managers are assigned to specific counties and play a primary role in solidifying relationships with partner organizations of all types, providing support, training, and technical expertise in community settings where organizations and individuals come together to work toward recovery. Managers collaborate with regional and chapter employees and volunteers to build capacity in the local community for the disaster cycle. This role will work closely with regional, chapter, and National Headquarters volunteers and employees.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring the American Red Cross is engaged with all Long-Term Recovery Groups post-disaster within a defined territory and participating in LTRG meetings.
- In collaboration with the Chapter Executive Director, Community Disaster Program Manager, Community Disaster Program Specialist, and other internal stakeholders liaise with voluntary, faith-based and community-based organizations (VOAD community), as well as emergency management community, for post-disaster recovery planning within a defined territory.
- Ensures that community efforts and Red Cross services reach all affected populations, especially vulnerable and underserved communities.
- Act as SME to Community Disaster Program Managers and Specialists and volunteers within defined territory on issues relevant to meeting client needs and maintaining client focus of all response and recovery activities.
- May serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Disaster Case Management Program (Federal/State Program) and provide support to disaster case management planning with multi-agency partners (government and non-government).
- Support provision of assistance to individuals and households with remaining unmet needs and qualifying barriers to recovery.
- Under the direction of management, liaise with NHQ Long-Term Recovery partners to ensure consistency in service delivery across the American Red Cross.
- In collaboration with regional Disaster Cycle Services, build and manage team of community recovery volunteers to execute community engagement strategy in designated area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Scope: Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying subject matter knowledge. Knowledge base acquired from several years of experience in particular area. Work independently. May instruct or coach other professionals.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Experience building and supporting a volunteer workforce preferable.
Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge of program or service. Demonstrated ability in creating presentations and developing training modules. Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills to develop creative processes for continuous program or service improvements. Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management. Additionally, this position requires ability for planning, public speaking, project management and process improvement. Individual must be customer oriented, organized, and focused on solutions.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
