Summary
The Risk and Compliance Director champions the smooth, safe operations of all Inspiritus programs in compliance with relevant laws, contracts, and funding requirements. This person supports program operations, drives continuous improvement, and maintains high standards for ethics and accountability across the organization. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, leading compliance audits, fostering a strong risk culture, and collaborating with leadership to address operational vulnerabilities.

- Reports to – Chief Operating Officer
- Located in – Preferably based in Atlanta, GA. Candidates in Birmingham, AL, Nashville, TN, and surrounding metropolitan areas will also be considered.
- Remote work eligible with occasional on-site visits; Travel (20%)
- Monday through Friday; 8:30AM – 5:00PM; may work beyond these hours occasionally
- Annual Compensation: $100,000 - $135,000 (depending on experience)
Responsibilities:
- Lead teams in the design and implementation of strategic and operational risk management and compliance strategies, policies and procedures that help Inspiritus achieve its mission.
- Periodically lead risk assessments and coordinate with executive and program leadership to create action plans for top risks and issues affecting client or service quality.
- Conduct/support program audits and ensure incident reporting is timely, thorough, and monitored for patterns that can shape continuous improvement.
- Lead activities to foster a strong risk culture where organization values guide staff in risk-aware operations and staff at all levels engage in role-based risk management.
- Support operations activities for program areas, including facilities, logistics and policy development, review and management.
- Champion safety measures and emergency preparedness protocols for staff, clients, and volunteers, including risk assessments and incident management.
- Support program/department staff in management of compliance activities, raising awareness of local, state, and federal laws and work with program/department leadership in implementing and improving systems to ensure adherence to these standards.
- Ensure that regular reports and documentation for regulatory bodies, funders, and the board of directors are available and submitted in a timely manner.
- In coordination with executive management, manage Inspiritus’ business insurance coverage as part of its risk financing strategy.
- Provides direct supervision to some operations/quality team staff members.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Risk Management, Nonprofit Management or any other related field.
- 6-8 years of relevant professional experience in compliance, risk management, or related field; nonprofit or social service setting experience strongly preferred, particularly in direct service organizations
- Strategic thinker with the ability to consider potential outcomes, gather a variety of information and perspectives, and collaborate with others to understand issues and develop solutions.
- Strong communication and negotiating skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong abilities to analyze information, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of service delivery regulations, client privacy issues, and grant regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience developing policies, conducting program audits, and managing compliance documentation is preferred.

Physical Demands:
This position requires regular use of a computer to complete work responsibilities. It also includes regularly working with other office equipment and communication technology, such as videoconferencing, telephone, and copy/print machines.
Regularly required to talk and hear. Required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and controls: and reach with hands and arms. Required to operate personal vehicle.
Employees frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
This role frequently performs multiple tasks simultaneously and works closely with others as part of a team.
