Position Summary
The Housing Manager oversees the development, implementation and ongoing operations of all Housing & Shelter housing programs including: Transition in Place (TIP) master leasing, Breaking New Ground (BNG) family housing, Coventry House shared housing, Youth and Young Adult TIP (joint transitional housing/rapid rehousing), Flex Funds, Justice Housing, solar and 3D printed homes, and related initiatives designed to reduce reliance on congregate shelter and advance pathways to permanent housing. The ideal person for this role will be passionate about ending homelessness, aware of and curious about new and emerging housing models, highly organized and detail oriented, with strong people management and relationship skills. As a core member of the H&S management team, this role supports the organizational goal of making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.
Some of the duties include:
- Manage day-to-day operations, partnerships and staffing across all Housing & Shelter housing initiatives
- Serve as primary point of contact for property owners, partners, and stakeholders. Represent the agency in community housing meetings, stakeholder convenings, and trainings
- Support program design, implementation, and expansion for existing and emerging housing programs. This includes refining existing and researching new models and making housing program decisions in alignment with management and organizational priorities
- Refine and implement tenant recruitment, screening, processing and placement processes with goal of maintaining full occupancy
- Coordinate property repairs with Facilities staff and landlord partners
- Coordinate and track rent collection with the agency’s Accounting staff. Issue late rent notices and, as necessary, eviction notices in cases of nonpayment
- Coordinate internal and external leasing, utility payments, evictions and mediations
- Manage, and input daily/weekly updates to, tenant and unit tracking spreadsheets to provide timely reports and updates to Associate Director
- Supervise housing staff including payroll and timekeeping, performance feedback, annual goal setting, evaluations, training/professional development, and improvement plans in consultation with HR
- Oversee (and when necessary, conduct) housing inspections for safety, compliance, and legal standards
- Project manage new unit acquisition, development and construction with pertinent parties (developers, contractors, realtors, funders, etc.)
- Assist with presentations, funding proposals, advocacy efforts, and implementation of new practices.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree a plus OR equivalent experience. Some experience working with people experiencing homelessness, veterans, people with substance use disorders, people with re-entry backgrounds, and/or other relevant social service populations preferred. 3-5 years’ experience working in property management, affordable housing development or related field preferred. A valid Ohio Driver’s license and proof of insurance, required. Must obtain HQS/NSPIRE Inspector training and certification within 60 days of hire.
