Job Purpose
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)? We are looking for Care Assistants to provide care and support to primary and secondary SEND school children at our multi-sports camps during the school holidays.
Job Summary
As SEND Care Assistant you will:
- Support the individual needs of a range of primary and secondary SEND school children who will be participating in a 9am - 3pm daytime school holiday sports and healthy living camp;
- Support and guide the Palace for Life coaching staff to ensure that all SEND children are fully included in all the sports activities to the best of their abilities and are pastorally assisted in the best possible way throughout the camps;
- Feedback to children’s parents/carers on any relevant information they should be aware of from each day’s events;
- Report any issues involving SEND participants to the Disability Inclusion Coordinator.
Person Specification
As successful candidate you will:
- Have experience of taking emotional and physical care of SEND children with a variety of physical, emotional and intellectual disabilities;
- Have knowledge of how to interact 1:1 with SEND children in a fun and safe way;
- Be able to identify the individual needs of SEND children and provide and implement quick solutions;
- Ideally have experience working as a SEND care assistant/teacher in SEND or mainstream primary or secondary school;
- Ideally be trained in de-escalation techniques;
- Be self-motivated with the ability to work well within a team;
- Be available to work during school holidays.
