Our Washington, DC based client, the Laborer� International Union of North America (LIUNA), is currently in search of a skilled Comptroller to seamlessly integrate into the daily operations of their Accounting Department. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of seven to ten years of relevant experience, with a preference for expertise in non-profit accounting; experience with labor unions is considered advantageous.
- Desired qualification as a Certified Public Accountant or active pursuit of certification
- Profound mastery of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with Business Central accounting software is a distinct asset
- Exceptional communication skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail
- Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable
- Proficiency in Excel is essential
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee day-to-day operations within the accounting department consisting of 11 individuals
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of general ledger entries
- Spearhead annual audits for International, Charitable Foundation, and PACs
- Coordinate annual 990 filings for International, Charitable Foundation, and PACs
- Serve as the primary liaison for all PAC disbursements and reconciliations
- Proactively identify areas for process enhancement and optimization
- Assist in organizing and maintaining historical records
- Uphold compliance with established policies and procedures
- Directly manage one individual responsible for bank reconciliations, investment reconciliations, and fixed asset recognition
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer on all matters pertaining to the accounting department
