**Hybrid position in Baltimore, MD or Washington, DC**
Overview:
Responsible for providing budget and financial reporting for the corporate wide M&T Charitable Foundation Program. Provide grants administration and budget reporting for assigned Community Bank region(s).
Primary Responsibilities:
Act internally and externally as the front line for grant process information in assigned region(s).
Support requesting organizations and internal sponsors with regards to all aspects and stages of the application process.
Receive, file, and review all grant applications for completeness and adherence to legal requirements and internal grantmaking/compliance guidelines in a timely manner.
Manage communications with requesting organizations and internal sponsors regarding grant materials: missing application items, as well as answering questions about the application/grantmaking process.
Confirm accuracy of grant entries in the grants management database for details such as project purpose, populations served, payment disbursement dates, etc.
Prepare proposals and agenda for committee meetings, sending out e-mail polls as necessary.
Process committee-reviewed proposals, (distribute checks, prepare letters, etc.).
Prepare regional budget, distribute accompanying reports and ensure that the region does not exceed their approved budget. Provide variance reports as needed.
Assist in training requesting organizations, internal sponsors and committee members as needed on technology or policy issues and procedure changes that affect them.
Communicate with charitable contributions regional committee members and other senior management members regarding financial reporting, grant requests, account relationships, etc.
Provide information internally and externally regarding policy, procedural, system and accounting questions, and supplies training and troubleshooting support on a regular basis.
Collaborate with Regional Program Officers on implementation of the department’s strategic plan, including technology and process enhancement.
Document best practices, lessons learned and suggestions for improvements to share with grants manager to help improve the grantmaking process.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 1993 and funded by M&T Bank. The M&T Charitable Foundation awards nearly $40 million in grants per year to thousands of nonprofit organizations focused on improving the quality of life in the areas the bank serves.
The position entails extensive contact with internal and external personnel.
The incumbent works under general supervision.

Education and Experience Required:
Associates’ degree and a minimum of 3 years accounting experience or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 5 years higher education and /or work experience including a minimum of 3 years accounting experience.
Awareness of current trends and environment in philanthropic giving and IRS rules.
Proficient analytical, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with Bank executives to influence and achieve philanthropic goals and objectives.
Established interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Keep current on and follow fiscal guidelines, regulations, principles, and standards related to corporate philanthropy.
Ability to travel within designated regions as needed.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $27.24 - $45.40 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
