The Director, Donor Engagement – Oregon Philanthropy Communications sets the overarching communications vision and strategy for the 8 foundations in Oregon, ensuring the implementation and effective use of the Providence brand to achieve the foundations' communication and fundraising goals.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Donor Engagement, the Director is a seasoned fundraising communicator, team collaborator and advisor who works closely with foundation leadership and fundraising staff to devise communications strategies that inform and inspire our community to financially support and advance Providence’s health care priorities through philanthropy. They will envision and develop individual major gift fundraising proposal strategies, concepts and design in collaboration with foundation senior leadership and fundraising staff. They will also lead communication and stewardship strategies in partnership with the strategies outlined by the Executive Director.
Essential Functions
- Engage cross-functional teams to develop an institutional fundraising themes, name, brand, messaging and collateral; devise and implement fundraising communications and marketing plan to support fundraising strategies for Providence Foundations of Oregon strategic fundraising priorities.
- Champion the integration of institutional fundraising messaging, communications and theme into institutional communications and themes through collaborative partnerships, including the Oregon marketing and communications team.
- Devise and measure communication strategies that articulate institutional fundraising priorities; must be tangible, informative and inspiring to potential supporters.
- Envision and develop fundraising proposal strategies, concepts and design in collaboration with Foundation senior leadership and fundraising staff. Collaboratively devise and implement highly-personalized fundraising proposal strategies. Allocate and manage proposal resources including prioritization, content development, visual presentation and production.
- Develop institutional fundraising messaging, communications plan and tools including cases for support in alignment with efforts at division and system levels.
- Develop RFPs in accordance with Providence standards, including vendor research, contract negotiations, relationship management and contract execution and implementation as needed.
- Allocation and responsible management annual communications expenditure budget.
- Inspire, grow and supervise two Development Communication Writers as well as various contractors as needed.
- Contribute at a high level to the Providence Mission.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (i.e., English, history, communications, humanities)
- 10 or more years of experience in stewardship/donor relations.
- 8 or more years of experience in leadership experience.
