Schedule is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with occasional evenings/weekends/holidays
Pay: $22/hour
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The NorthStar Housing Coordinator will be the primary coordinator of housing resources
and support (crisis, transitional, and permanent) for members of NorthStar. The Housing
Coordinator will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with
community housing resources, including shelters, to facilitate access to housing for
members. The position will provide services to members to overcome barriers to
housing and assist them in applying for and obtaining housing.
The Housing Coordinator will facilitate referrals and applications to housing providers in
tandem with members and support them in all aspects of moving into housing, including
transportation. The position will coordinate with housing resources in Multnomah,
Washington, and Clackamas counties.

ABOUT NORTHSTAR: NorthStar Clubhouse is an evidence-based mental health
recovery program operating under New Narrative Integrative Mental Health and
accredited by Clubhouse International. The Clubhouse is split into two units: Nutrition &
Wellness and Business. The Clubhouse Model is a specialized form of
community-based psychosocial rehabilitation that uses shared tasks as the medium for
positive growth. By participating in the Clubhouse, members build relationships, routine,
increase confidence, and find a renewed sense of purpose.
GENERAL STAFF DESCRIPTION: Staff generate member involvement in all aspects
of clubhouse operations as a means to facilitate member’s personal recovery goals.
Staff are generalists and support other staff and departments as needed.
All Staff Duties
Working with members on the daily tasks to promote confidence, connection,
skills, satisfaction, stabilization, and their personal goals
Attending multiple meetings throughout the day
Assisting with Transitional Employment positions and covering shifts when
member employees are not able to report for their placement
Rotating with other staff to cover occasional weekend, holiday, and after hour
events linking members to community services
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Housing Coordinator will be assigned to the Membership Department. Upon
acceptance of this position, they will be starting two important goals:
1) Clearly identify the need for housing services within the Clubhouse
2) Establish the structure and policies and procedures needed to accomplish the
housing work (the beginnings of the development of a Housing Unit).
Housing Coordinator Duties
- Engage with members who would benefit from housing navigation assistance which includes: goal setting, barrier reduction planning, completing housing assessments and applications, exploring benefits eligibility, connecting with housing providers and locating open units, identify supports and professionals who can write reasonable accommodation letters as needed.
- Transportation to view, lease, and rent units
- Accessing furniture and moving resources as appropriate
- Establish relationships with property management companies, landlords, and other housing providers
- Document all activities, engagement, and housing services provided
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to establish relationships rooted in mutuality, curiosity, and hope
- Exemplify cultural humility
- Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness; a degree in a related field, or 1/more years work experience, or relevant trainings/certifications
- Proficiency with basic computer programs such as Google and Microsoft 365
- Good telephone etiquette, time management, organizational skills, and flexibility
- Valid Oregon Driver's License and current insurance/acceptable driving record
- Skilled in using trauma informed principles
Additional Skills and/or Certifications
- Experience with or knowledge of the Clubhouse International Rehabilitative model
- Experience using software like Canva and Mailchimp
- Bilingual candidates preferred
- Peer Support Specialist Certification, bystander intervention training, crisis support or de-escalation training, Mental Health First Aid, etc.
- QMHA preferred.
- Rent Well and VI-SPDAT certification preferred.
- Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a computer
- Navigating a single level multi-room office setting. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
HIRING PROCESS:
Members are involved in each step of the hiring process. The first step is a brief phone screening. Second is an initial in-person or zoom interview that is open to the hiring committee. Third is a final interview that is open to the whole community, which can be a larger group. We will need 2-3 references. The selected candidate will need to pass a background check and get fingerprinted.

Experience/Qualifications:
- Computer literacy is required.
- Experience working with adults diagnosed with mental health issues preferred.
- Experience working with adults with substance use disorders preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance is required.
- Strong motivational interviewing skills are desired.
- Familiar with the mental health service delivery system preferred.
Must possess the ability to interface with other agencies, actively work with and partner
with community stakeholders in a collaborative manner, and represent the Clubhouse in
a professional manner. Must be able to work independently. Ability to develop and follow
policies and procedures for fieldwork in an unstructured setting desired.
